James Smith
James is a Director of a property lettings company JNS Properties which he founded in 2007 to assist families in need of relocating to quality housing. He previously lived in Madrid where he had an English Language Academy.

James also offers his services to being a foster carer, having looked after over forty children throughout his career. James and his partner of 20 years were the first same sex couple to be approved as adoptive parents in Scotland and have adopted their son.

James is CEO of @Hillhead a company encompassing charitable organisations. He has been involved with the third sector for many years and supportive of numerous charities and groups from kinship caring to animal welfare. Having founded the charity Hillhead Pets Corner in 2012, which aims to help vulnerable families increase their quality of life by experiencing the outdoors. Working in partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh and John Muir Awards to offer workshops, events and activities around wildlife and bio-diversity.

In 2014 James was recognised by KGCC as Volunteer of the Year, by Ayrshire Trust as the winner of the 2014 Service to the Community Award and received the Inspirational Hero Award 2016 for his achievements at Hillhead. He continues to be involved with numerous local community projects and charitable organisations.
